I was so happy with last year’s participation in the CairoComix3 festival and really appreciated all the great feedback and valuable experience I gained throughout. Being exposed to so much talent and love for comics and the arts is so refreshing and something that is direly needed in Egypt.
Which is why I’m super excited to take part in this year’s CairoComix Festival once again! Many of you didn’t have the chance to get a copy of my book or the posters that you wanted but now I’m fully stocked up and ready!!
Cairo Comix is an extensive 3-day festival and program celebrating the world of comics, with exhibitions, competitions, workshops and talks based on different themes from storytelling to culturally related aspects, and it kicks off Friday the 2nd to the 4th of November. It celebrates local and international independent artists and publishers.
Back for it's fourth time around and so much talent bursting and activities with a live projection of artists at work, a screening of films, ongoing exhibitions and finally the Indie Square which is where I will be with my book.
The artists and masterminds behind Cairo Comix are Mohammed Shennawy, artist and co-founder of Tok Tok magazine, Magdy El-Shafei, author of the award-winning graphic novel Metro, and Twins Cartoon, brothers Mohammed and Haytham Ra'fat behind the genius that is Garage comic magazine and founders of Kawkab El-Rasameen.
Also showcasing her work is my friend and very talented artist, (not to mention, award winning) Deena Mohamed.
Come say hi and show some support to local talents on display. Waiting for you all!
